Welcome To Purposely Positive

“Sometimes We Have To Be Positive On Purpose”

Welcome to the homepage for Purposely Positive.  Be sure and visit the “BLOG” page to see the current posts.

Purposely Positive is my take on trying to maintain a positive attitude after some life changing events and dealing with a chronic illness.  I realized one day that I didn’t hold much hope anymore for good things to happen in my life.  But God gently reminded me that He still had blessings in store and a purpose for my life, but I needed to change my attitude in order to be open to the possibilities that lay ahead.

I am and always will be a work in progress, but I’ve learned through many things God has done for me, that even if our body is broken, we can be a light to others for Him.

If just one person reads my blogs and finds any kind of encouragement, then I feel something good has come out of the accident and illness that has changed my life in so many ways.  I first began blogging about the aftermath of the accident which can be found at http://www.lauriefharrison.wordpress.com  (Getting Through By God’s Grace).  But I wanted to do something that gave me a more open canvas, so to speak, to share my experiences in trying to find the positive in the negative, through laughter and deep thought, while still praising God through the storms.

I hope you can find something hear that can touch your heart as I share my journey.

      • I apologize for the delay in my response. I have been really sick lately. Yesterday was the first day in awhile that I felt human. 😊 You are so sweet! Your prayers are very much appreciated and it touches my heart that you took the time to reach out to me. Thank you so much. I hope everything has been good for you and know the prayers are being returned!

  4. I admire the positive attitude you display and believe it will help you in your illness. I am fortunate in the fact I have good health despite being diagnosed by several doctors as having rheumatoid arthritis. I was first treated for this disease nearly forty years ago but apart from a few periods when I had trouble walking, I am virtually symptom free. I believe this is due to always asking myself what I can do, rather than what I cannot. Your outlook will stand you in good stead.

  5. Thank you! I’m so glad that RA has not gotten the best of you. It can be a nasty disease. But you’re right. If we focus on what we can do, it makes things so much easier. Thank you for stopping by my page and taking the time to comment.

  6. Hi Laurie. Thanks for visiting my blog. I just through I’d share with you my favourite verses that strengthens me.
    2 Corinthians 9-10
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
    Stay strong.
    Cheers Sarah : o )

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page. I was really intrigued with yours and all of your gardening. 😊

    • Thank you! What a compliment! I was just going through more stuff on your blog this morning. Your adventures are definitely stories to share. I love reading it. Probably because I’m just simple country girl from Georgia who has done little to no traveling so I live vicariously through the stories of others. 😊 I saw a few of your pictures from Atlanta. Are you originally from GA? (If I’ve asked you that already, I apologize. My mind races all the time so I can be easily confused with what I meant to do vs what I actually did. Lol)

      • Well it’s a deserved compliment! Thanks a lot, glad you enjoy hearing them, I sometimes wonder if they’re just insane ramblings…actually I know they are!

Ahhh you’re from Georgia? Lovely place! I’m English, but I spent a year there as an exchange student at Georgia state. Nothing but good memories! You guys sure know how to make a person feel welcome!

      • Well I sure hope so. Of course compared to the out skirts of town… Atlanta (downtown) is a different world in itself. You have to travel out about 30-45 mins to experience true, southern hospitality. Lol I live in GA and never go downtown. Just not my thing. That’s why I choose to love vicariously through others, like yourself, who like to travel and see that kind of stuff. We have a cousin who just graduated from Georgia State this hear. He enjoyed the party life quite a bit so I think he was there much longer than most. Lol But very proud he finally finished. You’ve done a great of traveling for your age. That’s wonderful. There’s a big world out there to explore and you’re taking advantage of it. I look forward to your stories. 😊

  9. Hi Laurie, thanks for visiting and following http://www.christiancounselorpastor.wordpress.com Some of us (yours truly included) live with chronic illness and disability. Personally, that makes me rely on God and His abilities because when I am not able, He sure is! Wonder if you, too, live Romans 8:28. God has been so very faithful to His word and promise to work all things for the good even though sometimes I can’t see how.

Look forward to your return visits and comments.

    Hugs and blessings,
    Pastor Sharon

Dear Laurie, I am Ronnie Motilla. I am from Manila, the Philippines. I have a book manuscript which I initially entitled PURPOSELY POSITIVE: 7 Guidelines on how to bounce back after hitting rock bottom. It is still a manuscript and I intend to have it published soon.I am still looking for a publisher. When I googled, I came to know that you already have a blog of the same title. And I really like your blogs. I entitled it as Purposely Positive because I teach Positive Psychology (by the way I am a registered psychologist in my country, the Philippines), and I looked for a word that also starts with a letter “P” to match with the word Positive. And I searched various synonyms and I finally thought of “Purposely”. We know that to be positive is really done on purpose. It is a personal decision; it is a choice. Anyway, I would like to seek your permission if I could also use the same title (Purposely Positive) for my book. Anyway, our subtitle is different. My book also accounts my personal experiences from breakdowns to breakthroughs in my life. I guess PURPOSELY POSITIVE aptly embodies the content of my book manuscript. I am seeking your permission because you were the one who used it. And I would give credence and respect to you. Thanks and have a blessed evening. God bless…
